The Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry is a mission minded disciple who has a passion for leading young people in an encounter with Christ Jesus. They assist parish youth ministries, schools, and diocesan ministries in evangelizing and forming intentional disciples of teens and young adults throughout the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi. This person serves as the main point of contact and support for strategic planning, implementation, and ongoing development in effectively proclaiming the Gospel to young people. The director will lead the planning of diocesan events (DBYC, March for Life, Mound Bayou missions, youth retreats, etc.), oversee diocesan peer ministry teams (Search Team and Spirit Movers), assist youth ministers at the parish level, and consult with diocesan schools in the formation of disciples.
"Behold, I make all things new" (Revelation 21:5). Jesus Christ comes to us to make all things new! This is the message of Holy Week. Jesus Christ wants to bring about in us a new creation, and this is the renewal that is being offered to us this Holy Week, revealed in radiance on Easter Sunday. Brothers and Sisters, let us not take this time for granted but become renewed in the Risen Christ. Let us be renewed, as St. Pope John Paul II proclaimed in his 2003 Encyclical Letter, Ecclesia de Eucharistia, in "Eucharistic amazement," remembering that each time we come to Mass, we encounter the same Risen Christ who conquered sin and death forever.
